Help On Demand
This section is designed to provide you with several key resources to
make this time a little easier and understandable. However, none of these
resources are as beneficial to you as a Rabbi or a contact from a local
Chevra Kadisha (Jewish Sacred Society) member. Whereas these resources
are generic and applicable to the majority of situations, having a real
person who is knowledgeable in Jewish death and mourning provides you with
help tailored to your situation. And no resource we provide can take
the place of that connection.
Resources: (coming soon)
- Checklist - This will guide you through all of the major
questions and customs in preparing for a Jewish funeral and the
mourning period afterward.
- Search for Contacts - Our printable list contains both
Chevra Kadisha (Jewish Sacred Society) and Jewish Funeral Home
contact information. It is expected and accounted for that any
of the contacts listed may be called 24 hours a day, on any day with
exception of the Jewish Sabbath (from Friday night sundown through
Saturday night sundown).
- Relevant Prayers and Psalms - This contains a printable
booklet of prayers that are said at specific times before, after and
during funeral; after the mourning period; when you visit the grave;
and on the yartziet (anniversary of the burial).
- Dignity for the body Peace for the Soul: An introduction to
Jewish Burial Customs - This is a fully printable and
downloadable version of the online version that can be found
HERE. Feel free to print as many of
these as you need for family members and friends.
